Danielle Sheehan Earns Licensure as Clinical Social Worker

Congratulations to Danielle Sheehan, one of our Developmental Disabilities Family Support Specialists, who recently became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker! Danielle supports families and individuals with disabilities to build their networks, gain access to resources, and achieve their goals. Today we celebrate her accomplishments.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is the families and individuals with whom I work. They are kind, resilient, and overall so amazing. I love to see them at the events and trainings, especially events like our Ice Cream Social and our Spring Fling.

What is the most important thing you have learned so far?

It is difficult to pick just one, because I have learned so much through working with my Developmental Disabilities Program team, community partners, and most importantly, our families. One of the many things I have learned is the importance of building a network and team for our families. Many of the individuals we support are working towards some big goals such as gaining more independence, making friends, or learning a new skill. Having a supportive community allows them to achieve these goals and more!

What difference does permanency make in your job?

Life with a disability can be challenging, especially in a society that is not built for full inclusion. Permanency can make life with a disability easier, more inclusive and create positive changes for a brighter future.

If you could snap your fingers and instantly make the world better in one way, what would you change?

I would love to see a kinder and more understanding world. Everyone has their own unique life experiences and challenges, kindness and understanding can make a world of difference in someone’s life and make the world overall a better place to be.
